Painting With Light pt.I

Well I spent most of yesterday rigging LEDs to batteries and switches so I could play around with some photography mixed with painting.

The term being used for this is ‘Light Graffiti‘ or ‘LED Painting‘. Whatever you want to call it, the basic idea is to get a camera that you can play with the settings and then mess around with the ISO, exposure, and aperture to take pictures of light moving around.

I got my friend Maxwell Lowther, who’s an excellent photographer, to help me out with this little experiment and he was pretty excited for it. He’s the photographer in all of these and I’m the one painting with the lights (with his help on a couple of them). Another one of Max’s friends was also helping out a lot; so many thanks to him too!

Well we got on location (which happened to be the local newspaper’s new shipping entrance) and started attempting this seemingly easy but complicated photo-shoot…

Note: This was experimental.. I really didn’t realize how hard it was going to be to draw with light…. Haha, anyway, I plan on practicing and taking more photo’s with Max soon.. so stay tuned!

Hope you enjoy them!

Love,
J.Schay

P.S. If you click on each image it will tell you the details of that photo including the ISO and all other settings (thought it would be helpful).  :)
